We worry about what a child will become tomorrow, yet we forget that he is someone today.

Boy, n.: a noise with dirt on it.

...The other day (weeks ago, when I started this post) in our pool, I was swimming (as much as is possible for someone 5'9 1/2" tall to do in a 3 ft pool) with my son. He pauses and looks at me thoughtfully and asks (very innocently)... "Mommy, are you a mermaid?" I tried not to laugh out loud, since that usually embarrasses him. I love seeing myself in their eyes. It makes me feel like I might be doing something right most of the time. Em, who is generally a child of few words gave me a huge hug and said "Emmy has good mommy."

Yeah, I melted.

Today-today... august.
Well, yesterday Kface was cracking jokes on me. We're on our way to church and he says "mom, do you need gas?" I say "No, honey. I have gas." He snickers and says "Do you have BAD gas?" har-har-har, K-man. Thanks. He's lucky he's cute. So then we get halfway through church and he says "MOM! *alarmed face* WHY are there holes in your ears?!" haha. Okay. We make it home and he goes to sleep after a lot of back and forth with me about WHY he needed to go to bed at 9 p.m. after being in the car 70% of the day and not napping. This morning he grabs my face and looks at me and says "WHY are your eyes black?" Well, thanks, kid. It has -nothing- to do with you arguing with me about your bedtime. lol. (Same child who asked me a few weeks ago why I "spilled" by basket of clothes on my bed). Tonight I ended up having to clean my little ones room, she destroyed it beyond her own capability to clean it (with K's help, I'm sure). I just threw some tacos together and gave them their favorite applesauce as a treat for eating all their dinner. I asked him if it was good (he usually sits at the table because he won't eat and I'm annoyed because he'd been saying "I'm hungrryyyy" in the first place). He replies "It was yummy, mom!" and then gives me the cutest little wink. I get told semi-regularly that my husband needs to purchase a shotgun for when Em gets older, but I think we're going to have more than one handful. So I tell them they are awesome for eating and they can go play. He gives me this half concerned, half playful face and says "No, I want to get a blanket and snuggle with you." How could I say no? So I had her on one side, him on the other and we watched Daffy Duck's Quackbusters. If you haven't watched it, find it on netflix. I grew up watching it with my daddy starting when I was K's age... now watching it with them is a whole new great memory! I was a happy mama tonight. They can both be really great when they want to be. :)

so that's about it. 2 more weeks till THE princess party. All the kiddos I was expecting (or about 90% of them have RSVPd) so it's time to get serious! My garage sale is (finally) next weekend. This weekend is the Run for the fallen on post. I'm looking forward to my first actual run of any kind.

Life is good, but I cannot -wait- to see my love.
